A Guide For the Best Women Clothing For the Peloton Bike and Bike+
Peloton has taken off in the past few years, no doubt related to the pandemic and the inability to join group fitness classes. Additionally, Peloton has done an outstanding job creating an exciting virtual fitness group and culture that we all want to be part of. Not only has their marketing team done a fine job convincing us to purchase their Peloton Bike and Peloton Bike + but their product development team has also done well keeping us hooked on using their Peloton accessories.
“Who’s on the leaderboard this week?” or “Who’s completed their weekly workouts?” is something spoken about by groups of women at brunches and shopping centers and on Zoom meetings. For those women new to spinning, we have compiled a list of what to wear on a Peloton bike with some of the best-in-class indoor cycling clothing and indoor cycling shoes. It’s important to remember that cycling indoors on a Peloton Bike is very different from cycling outdoors so the equipment and clothing will be different than what you would wear outside on a bike or at the gym. Let’s look at the product that will take your indoor cycling experience to the next level and make you want to swing your leg over your Peloton bike again and again:
Women Cycling Shoes for the Peloton Bike and Bike+
Tommaso Pista Aria Elite Knit Shoes
Cycling shoes allow riders to exercise their full range of muscles by being able to drive the foot forward and then pull back up around and on every revolution without having the foot slip off the pedals. Ladies, your ride starts with the feet; if your feet are pain-free and free from rubbing or burning hot-spots then you’re going to ride with better technique and comfortably endure a longer workout.
The Pista Aria Elite Peloton shoes offer an extremely breathable yet durable, XD Knit upper that gently hugs the foot. The toe-box of the shoe allows for literal wiggle-room of the toes that help prevent compression of the foot that leads to numbness.
It’s a common Peloton newbie mistake to over-tighten the laces on a cycling shoe causing the numbness of the foot. Speaking of preventing discomfort, the Pista Aria Elite offers a stiff, fiberglass sole that prevents bending of the bottom of the shoe which is a common cause of pressure points and burning hot spots on the bottom of the foot.
The Pista Aria Elite comes with a Quick Lace system that allows the user to pop up the dial to release the lace system and then easily push the button down to tighten and readjust the tension even during the middle of a workout, without the need to get off the bike!
Tommaso has preinstalled the Look Delta cleats meaning you don’t have to fuss about trying to install the cleats yourself though there is a hex/Allen key included should you need to tighten the bolts at any time.
Tommaso is so confident in their product that they offer a 100% Fit Guarantee, 100% Free Fit Returns, and a 2 Year Manufacturer’s Warranty. This is an impressive warranty and for reference, most cycling shoes found in bike shops only offer a 30-day warranty on unworn products.
The price of indoor cycling shoes can range from $100 to $300, and we found the $100 price of the Pista Aria Elite offers a great value especially considering the durable XD-Knit upper, the Quick Lace system and the 2-year warranty.
Women Cycling Shorts for the Peloton Bike and Bike+
Pearl Izumi Women’s Elite Pursuit Shorts
An equally important touchpoint on the Peloton bike is the rider’s backside. We’ve all been there before whether it be cycling indoors or riding outdoors: the dreaded sore bum. Having a sore behind or sore soft tissue is not the kind of pain that many of us want to push through and frankly nor should we. It is important to find a great pair of indoor cycling shorts and we love the Pearl Izumi Women’s Elite shorts and think these are the go-to short for pedalling on the Peloton Bike.
Pearl Izumi is a Shimano owned cycling apparel company which means you get the research and development of a major corporation which is made apparent in the Elite Pursuit cycling shorts. The waistband comes in a wide, yoga-like style meaning no pinching and tightness around the waist and no feeling like your stomach is going to fall out of the short when you bend forward. The wide hem around the bottom of the legs also makes for a comfortable and flattering fit; say goodbye to looking like a pot roast in spandex! The wide, flat-lock stitching offers a comfortable seam that doesn’t rub or cause discomfort when the shorts move over your skin during a workout.
The most important part of a cycling short is the padded, chamois inside. The Elite Pursuit offers a breathable chamois of medium thickness that we found comfortable and more form-fitting than other chamois on the market.
Since it is suggested to wear indoor cycling shorts without underwear, and because cycling shorts should be washed inside out and hung to dry, we suggest buying multiple pairs of the Elite Pursuit shorts.
Women Cycling Tops for the Peloton Bike and Bike+
Icyzone Workouk Tank Tops for Women
There’s no argument that cycling indoors is hot, and we’re talking about the temperature! Even with using a fan and putting your bike in a cooler room, you’re going to sweat a lot during your workout. Therefore, the typical cycling jersey is too much material for a Peloton workout. Instead, we opt for wearing tank-tops, and depending on the company you’re in, sometimes just a sports bra. We chose the Icyzone Workout Tank as our top pick because of value and affordability.
The Workout Tank is a racerback, yoga style top made from 95% polyester and 5% spandex. This means the shirt is light and offers stretch and ease when putting on. The racerback style back offers less material while remaining snug on the shoulders and upper back. The loose bottom makes the shirt comfortable and flattering around the mid-section, while the flatlock stitching and tag-free neck label means when you’re moving around on the bike, standing, and sitting, the material won’t irritate the skin as the material moves around the body.
The shirt comes in almost every color you can think of so you can color-coordinate every workout and the 3-pack mean you’re ready to ride with fresh gear for every ride.
Women Headbands for the Peloton Bike and Bike+
Dasuta Set of 10 Athletic Headbands
Peloton workouts are a fun, sweaty good time but that doesn’t mean we want sweat falling down our face. The Dasuta athletic headband is a great way to keep the sweat out of your eyes without flattening your hair with a hat or a tight sweatband.
The Dasuta headband comes with an easy-to-use button closure which is great if you’re trying to salvage your hairstyle post workout. The eco-friendly material is made from 87% Chinlon and 13% lycra spandex making a super soft, breathable and stretchable, one-size-fits-all product.
This stylish headband comes in a plethora of colors and is appropriate for yoga, running and other fitness activities or for pairing with a casual outfit. And because they come in a ten pack you have a headband to coordinate with every fitness outfit.
Women Socks for the Peloton Bike and Bike +
BERING Women’s 6 Pack Performance Athletic Ankle Socks
Traditional cycling socks are taller and warmer than the socks needed for Peloton workouts and indoor cycling. The Bering Women’s Performance Athletic Ankle Run Sock offers a cooler and more comfortable option. This breathable, moisture-wicking material keeps your feet dry and odor free.
This low-ankle sock is designed with a heel tab providing protection for your Achilles and to prevent blisters and skin abrasions at the back of the ankle. The extra cushion at the forefoot and heel help with pressure that might be felt at the pedal-foot contact point. While the arch compression helps to hold the sock in place and keep it from sliding down the foot during exercise.
These athletic socks can be used for most types of fitness-related activity and the price for the 6 pack is an excellent value and ensures that you’ve got a clean pair of socks for every workout.
Women Sports Towel for the Peloton Bike and Bike +
Hopeshine Microfiber Sports Towel
When you’re well into your Peloton workout, there’s bound to be sweat and a lot of it! To save your floors from a pool of wetness and for wiping yourself down during and after a workout, the Hopeshine Microfiber Sports Towel and a Peloton bike towels is a must.
If you have used a microfiber towel for cleaning, then you know how great this material is for absorption and quick drying. Hopeshine has created a premium, high-quality microfiber towel that is soft, smooth and gentle to the skin.
These towels are small but mighty with Hopeshine promising 500 wash cycles, though they do recommend washing them separately before the first use as there may be some color bleeding.
The 3-pack will provide enough towels for multiple workouts but for heavy-sweaters we recommend placing two towels underneath you while riding the Peloton Bike and using one for wiping your skin so be sure to purchase a few packs so that you’re well prepared for every workout.
