L Now LD-528 Indoor Cycling Bike Review

Overview:
L-Now LD-528 Indoor Cycling Bike

Home > L Now > LD-528 Indoor Cycling Bike

The L Now LD-528 indoor cycling bike is a home quality spin bike. Featuring a solid frame and fully customizable handlebars, the L NOW CycleFire LD-582 is a top choice for beginners and mid-level spinners (5’4″ to 6’5″ tall) who can not afford the L-Now LD577.

Ranked from the top, the L NOW LD-582 is the third model after the LD-577 with a lighter flywheel and less inclusive LCD monitor. Other than that, they are similar spin bikes, so if those differences are not a factor, I suggest you the LD528 as it is $300 less expensive.

A hallmark of the L Now LD-528 indoor cycling spin bike is its durability and steel tubing that can support up to 300-pound user weight. Made of materials protected against corrosion with a belt drive system that doesn’t easily wear, making it low-maintenance.

The LD528 L Now indoor cycling bike trainer belt drive offers tablet holder and dual built-in water bottle holder for convenience and precision and a wide range of friction resistance. It’s available with a choice of two different frame colors (white and black).

Featuring a solid crank system, the L Now belt drive LD-528 bike is designed to meet the demands of indoor cycling. With 35 pounds flywheel, you can experience the real cycling feel with the L NOW CycleFire LD-582 indoor cycle trainer.

Other highlights of L Now LD-528 indoor cycling bike include an LCD, 4-way adjustable breathable seat, 4-way adjustable handlebar and wheels for easy transport.

Additionally, LD-528 belt drive L Now indoor cycling bike comes with an excellent handlebar design that includes built-in easy to reach water bottle holder and media shelf to hold your tablet, book, etc.

On top of everything else, the L now spin bike LD528 is backed by one year part and frame warranty which is not bad compared to some popular brands like Sunny Health and Fitness that offer an only 90-day warranty. Its online price of about $600 includes free shipping. Part by part, here’s our L NOW CycleFire LD-582 indoor cycling bike review.

L Now LD-528 Comparison!

I, personally would NOT buy this L-Now exercise bike for $600. For several reasons, I believe the Schwinn IC3 is a better option. IC3 has a perimeter weighted flywheel heavier flywheel (40lb vs 35lb). Schwinn IC3 monitor is larger with RPM reading and compatible with a wireless HR strap while the LD528 monitor is too small, not compatible with HR straps, and doesn’t read the RPM. Schwinn IC3 comes with dual-sided SPD pedals but the L-Now LD528 pedals are toe caged only. On top of all these superior features, the IC3 comes with an excellent warranty while this L-Now bike includes only one year warranty.

So, as you can see I have quite a few reasons to prefer the Schwinn IC3 over this bike. And just so we are clear, if you buy the L-Now LD528, I make more money (more expensive=more commission for me). Now, that I got this out of my head, it is up to you to choose one of these two spin bikes to buy.

The L Now LD-528 indoor cycling exercise bike is good exercise equipment but it is not the best spin bike that the “Live in Now” (L-Now) has to offer. This Fitness equipment brand has at least 7 more indoor cycling bikes and some of them feature commercial quality with magnetic resistance technology.

Therefore, I recommend you to check out our L-Now indoor cycling bike reviews and comparison to see if you can afford a more durable model by this brand. But if you can’t afford or don’t want to invest more, rest assure the L Now LD-528 indoor cycling belt drive bike will give you years of indoor rides.

To make it easy for you to navigate through our ultimate L now indoor cycling bike review, I have created the table of content below.

Technical Information:

L Now LD528 Specs:

  • Height: 41″
  • Width: 20″
  • Length: 52″
  • Transport Wheels: Yes
  • Foot Levelers: Yes
  • Bike Weight: 101 Pounds
  • Max User Weight: 300 Pounds
  • User Height: 5’4″ to 6’5″
  • Shipping Weight: 110 Pounds

Featuring compact dimensions and large transport wheels, the LD528 by L-Now is easy to store and move from one place to another place in the house.

The 100 pounds steel frame capable of supporting 300 pounds user weight indicate the sturdiness of LD528 L-Now bike. Unlike cheaply made indoor cycling bikes, this L Now indoor cycle has wide and heavy frame stabilizers to prevent rocking during workouts.

Additionally, the LD528 L Now exercise bike has 4 adjustable feet levelers. They will help protect the floor and keep the bike stable on uneven gym floors.

But that is just the beginning of what this L Now spin bike has to offer. The L Now indoor cycling bike trainer belt drive LD-528 is double coated to resist against corrosion. It also has a sweat resistance flywheel guard and belt box.

Unfortunately, unlike a few other models by L Now, the LD528 is made for home use and not recommended for commercial use. Therefore, L-Now indoor cycling bike LD-528 can only handle 1-hour of daily use. But if you want something more durable, I suggest you consider the L Now Pr C580. It is around the same price and features commercial quality construction.

L-Now LD528 Monitor:

LD528 monitor
  • LD528 monitor displays the time, cal, HR, speed, and distance (no RPM or watt).
  • The monitor is not compatible with non-coded wireless HR straps.
  • L Now indoor cycling bike trainer belt drive LD-528 monitor is not backlit.
  • L now LD528 bike monitor is wired (it is not Bluetooth or ANT/+ enabled).
  • The computer runs on batteries. (Included)

The L Now exercise bike LD-528 console is not compatible with wireless heart rate chest straps, but it has pulse sensors allowing you to stay within target heart rate training zones as you workout.

Note: In its price class, the LD528 console is considered very basic due to the lack of RPM tracking and dark LCD monitor. The non-backlit monitor makes it difficult to see your spinning workout stats in the low-light condition. It is also wireless which means the sensor on the flywheel sends data to the monitor via a cable. Therefore, if you not careful during the ride or when adjusting the handlebars, the wire can be crimped and cause maintenance.

The L now Pro indoor cycling bike LD528 does not track the watts. It also doesn’t have internal memory, Bluetooth or ANT/+ connectivity. Therefore, you can’t save daily workouts on the monitor or on spinning Apps.

However, there is an easy solution that enables you to save workout progress on the apps and also compete with other cyclists online. This simple solution includes a Wahoo RPM sensor. It cost $30 and is very popular among indoor cyclists. Search our website for Wahoo sensor and spin bike computer to learn more about this optional accessory.

Pedals and Q-factor:

L-Now LD528 pedals
  • L-Now spin bike LD-528 has single side toe cage pedals.
  • Toe pedal straps are adjustable.
  • The Q-factor for this L-Now bike is not disclosed (but estimated between 7.5″ – 8″).
  • This indoor cycling bike is built with standard 9/16″ pedal thread.

L-Now stationary bike LD528 features thick and solid crank arms and toe cage pedals. Unfortunately, the pedals are not SPD compatible which means if you want to use cycling shoes, you need to replace the pedals.

Thankfully, the Live in Now indoor bike has standard 9/16″ pedal thread size. So, you can replace its pedals with pretty much any clipless spin bike pedals (search this website for the best spin bike spd pedals).

The Q-factor, one of the most important features when buying indoor cycling bikes is not disclosed. But we believe it is anywhere from 7.5″ inches to 8 inches which is acceptable.

In case you are new to indoor cycling, the q factor is the horizontal distance between the two pedals. Wide q factors tend to keep riders’ feet too far apart which can cause injuries if you have narrow hips.

LD-528 Flywheel:

L Now spin bike flywheel
  • L-Now LD528 flywheel weighs 35 pounds.
  • It is a chrome plated flywheel.
  • The flywheel has a sweat protection guard.
  • It has the fixed-wheel bidirectional flywheel system.

The LD528 flywheel is well built weighing 35 pounds which is capable of providing smooth indoor cycling workouts with a large range of challenge to meet the needs of most riders.

It is also chrome plated which makes it easy to clean and difficult to scratch. The polished steel flywheel and black/white coating frame give the bike a great look.

Just like any other budget indoor cycling exercise bike, the LD-528 L Now indoor cycling exercise bike is fixed-wheel. Meaning the flywheel moves and stops with the pedals which comes a pro and a con. While it allows you to pedal reverse and simulate different leg muscles, it doesn’t allow you to take a short break or jump off the bike until the flywheel completely stops.

Freewheel bikes are more expensive. They work similar to bicycles. Meaning even after you stop pedaling, the flywheel still turns. So, you can jump off the bike in case of emergency or take a few second brakes whenever you want, without having to wait for the flywheel to stop.

LD528 Resistance System:

LD528 resistance
  • L Now LD528 exercise bike has friction resistance system.
  • The felt pad is made of heat resistant material.
  • The L Now stationary exercise bike comes with manually knob adjustment system (not electronically).
  • Resistance system along with part of the flywheel has a sweat protection cover.
  • Pooboo LD528’s resistance knob also works as an emergency brake.

The LD528 stationary exercise bike from L Now has unlimited resistance system. While it is not as quiet as a magnetic resistance bike, it provides infinite resistance.

Unlike magnetic bikes, it doesn’t have certain levels of resistance. Each knob turn provides a challenging workout to suit the needs of both indoor cyclists and mimics real road riding. So, no matter your fitness level, you can always make the workout more intense with an extra turn of the knob.

When buying L now indoor cycling bike LD528, you don’t need to worry about the quality of the breaking pads. They are made of heat-tolerant materials capable of providing a quiet and smooth ride.

There is also a small protection guard above the resistance to make sure the breaking system stays dry and doesn’t cause maintenance. Overall, it is consistent, durable and quieter than some other cheap friction resistance bikes. But it is not as quiet as the magnetic resistance system, which is why I suggest you consider a magnetic spin bike if you want to ride with less noise. (Search for the best magnetic spin bikes in this website).

Drive System:

L-Now Pro belt-drive indoor cycling bike
  • L Now Fitness LD528 cycle is belt driven.
  • It is quiet and requires little maintenance.
  • It has an automotive-grade patented high-quality belt and a durable belt box.

If you have been reading this L Now indoor cycling bike review, you already know this spin bike is belt driven. But let’s see why it is better than chain drive bikes.

Belt system doesn’t have hundreds of tiny rings and pieces like a chine do. Therefore, it has less maintenance and lasts longer. But that is not the only benefits of belt drive spin bikes.

Featuring belt makes the bike quieter and eliminates the need for oiling. And if the belt is high quality like the one on this L Now cycling bike, it doesn’t stretch. So, you don’t need to deal with adjustment tools often.

Handlebars and Seat:

L-Now LD528 seat handlebars
  • Offers multi-seat and handlebar adjustments
  • L Now LD-528 seat is 4-way adjustable.
  • The seat is cushioned and comfortable featuring center cutout.
  • Handlebar also is 4-way (up/down and fore/aft) adjustable.
  • LD528 features cam and lever locking mechanism.

Designed for comfort, the L NOW indoor cycling bike trainer belt drive features an adjustable seat and handlebars that move fore and aft as well as up and down so that majority of trainees can acquire a safe custom fit.

And the full adjustment is the reason that makes the LD528 spin bike by L-Now to accommodate users from 5’4′ to 6’5″ tall. For extra comfort, there are also one easy to reach water bottle holders built-into the handlebars to allow you to stay hydrated during the exercise.

Featuring the cam and lever locking system for the horizontal adjustment is relatively easier to adjust compared to the knob adjustment system. They also tighten nicely, so you don’t need to worry about the bike jostling during intense indoor cycling workout.

The seat is soft and breathable with a cutout in the center to keep you cool during summer rides. So, when you buy L NOW LD-528 indoor cycling bike black/white, you don’t necessarily need a seat cover or seat replacement. However, if you want to change the seat, the replacements widely available on the market because this bike uses the standard seat clamp size.

Live in Now Cycle Price and Warranty:

  • LD528 L Now Indoor Cycling Bike price is around $600.
  • L Now indoor cycling bike LD528 residential warranty includes:
  • 1-Year on the frame and all parts.
  • This bike doesn’t comes with a labor warranty.
  • To order parts under warranty you can only contact the seller through Amazon messages.

Depending on where you buy this L Now spin bike the price is different. On Amazon U.S, you can purchase the LD528 indoor cycle for under $600. However, on Amazon Canada, the price for some of these L-Now bikes are ridiculously high and I definitely don’t recommend them because there as there are better options at those price points

On Amazon U.S. you may also find the L Now belt drive Ld528 spinning bike discounted sometimes, but that doesn’t happen often since there is a high demand for L-Now spin bikes.

It comes one year warranty for the entire bike which is better than what Sunny Health and Fitness offer (90-days) but not as good as what Schwinn Fitness, Sole Fitness or BodyCraft offer (you can search for BodyCraft and Sole spin bikes on this website).

Shipping and Assembly:

  • The L-Now LD-528 manual and assembly tools are included.
  • LD528 assembly is fairly easy.
  • This bike includes free shipping.
  • LC528 ships in one box that weighs around 115 pounds.
  • Expert assembly is not included.

The LD-528 comes with free shipping and in one big heavy box. Therefore, we suggest you ask the carrier to help bring the bike inside or unbox the bike outside and bring inside in tow pieces.

Aside from the bike, there are the L Now indoor cycling bike assembly tools and manual in the box. So, you wouldn’t need to buy, borrow or use other tools for assembly of LD-528.

The LD-528 bike comes about 80% assembled, which helps you save $70 assembly cost. Remaining assembly is relatively straight-forward but still might take you about an hour.

Assembly manual is very easy to follow as long as you pay attention to detail and have little mechanical common sense. It is recommended to do the assembly with 2 people.

The parts that you need to assembly are leg stabilizers, pedals, seat, handlebars and computer. The flywheel, drive mechanism and crank arms come pre-assembled.

L Now LD528 Pros:

Handlebars:
LD-528 L Now spin bike includes some of the top handlebars in its price class. They offer multi-grip to eliminate wrist fatigue and offer a more comfortable ride. On top of that, these handlebars are equipped with a convenient easy to reach a bottle holder and a large media shelf. They are also equipped with microfiber form that extends your grip for longest indoor cycling workouts.

Heart Rate
LD-528 L Now indoor cycling bike tracks your heart rate “HR” via built-in pulse sensors on the handlebars. Knowing your HR is an important factor, especially if your doctor advises you to stay within a certain HR range. Also looking at the heart rate, you can understand which exercise zone you are. For, example 100-120 beat per minute indicates you are in health improvement zone while 120-150 beat per minute indicates you are in the fitness zone (fat burning zone).

  • With 35 pounds heavy flywheel the L Now LD528 provides a smooth ride and effectively mimics the feel of a road bike.
  • Featuring automotive-grade patented belt drive helps create a relatively quiet and low-maintenance operation.
  • Durable transport wheels for easy portability.
  • 4 Adjustable base levelers for an enjoyable stable ride.
  • Flywheel sweat protection guard to lower the maintenance.
  • L Now spin bike LD-528 features an easy assembly process.
  • Convenient and easy to reach the water bottle holder.
  • High weight capacity of 300 pounds.
  • 4-Way adjustable seat combined with 4-way adjustable handlebars provides a customized fit for most riders.
  • Center cutout breathable seat for comfort during longer rides.
  • There is a water bottle holder to hold your refreshments.
  • Equipped with a heavy-duty steel frame system with a 300 pounds weight capacity.
  • The bike also comes with a multimedia stand where you can put your iPad or tablet.

L Now LD528 Cons:

Pedals
For this price tag, I was expecting the L NOW Indoor Cycling Bike to be equipped with dual sided SPD compatible pedals. But unfortunately, the pedals have toe caged only. So, if you want to use clipless spinning shoes, you will need to replace the pedals. A pair of dual-sided Shimano compatible pedals cost around $40. Thankfully the LD-528 L Now the indoor cycle is made with standard 9/16″ pedals thread size. So, the SPD replacements are available widely.

Frictions resistance
This bike creates a bit of noise and requires more maintenance than magnetic resistance spin bikes. Because the brake pad comes in direct contact with the flywheel and wears out after a while. So, if you live in a small apartment or want to ride as noiseless as possible, I suggest a magnetic spin bike (search this website for the best magnetic spin bike).
Note: Sometimes serious outdoors biker and those who take their indoor exercise routine seriously prefer friction resistance because it offers unlimited resistance which is perfect for high-intensity workouts.

  • No Bluetooth or ANT/+ connectivity.
  • The monitor is not backlit and does not track the RPM and Watts.
  • Not suitable for users below 5’4″.
