KOUZ LIVE Indoor Cycling Bike Review | Good Value Bike
For fitness enthusiasts ready to transform their spin experience, the KOUZ LIVE spin bike is an innovative and ergonomic model at a budget price which brings out all the best qualities of indoor cycling. The KOUZ LIVE is a high-quality spin bike model that definitely stands out as a quality beginner or advanced bike and holds its own in comparison with many other indoor spin bike competitors.
As the KOUZ LIVE is one of the cheaper options among the wide range of at home stationary exercise bikes, it’s not an unnecessarily expensive or difficult investment. Ideal for both the novice and the seasoned spin cyclist, the KOUZ LIVE combines its ease of use with intuitive and easy to understand and maintain technology which will certainly meet the needs of every level of spinner.
The KOUZ LIVE is space-efficient and aerodynamic and can easily accommodate any space restrictions you’re dealing with at home. Take this into account alongside the sturdy and streamlined design that’s characteristic of the Kouz brand and you will be able to reap the benefits of your KOUZ LIVE for many years. With these features, the KOUZ LIVE offers some of the best qualities that indoor cycling bikes have to offer, creating an approachable, intuitive, and high-quality workout all from the comfort of your own home. This is an especially big benefit for anyone who doesn’t have access to a gym or spin studio to exercise in.
KOUZ Indoor Bike Alternatives
This is where I often update to let you know if KOUZ exercise bike is a good value purchase or if there are better options for the price point. Currently, in May 2022, the KOUZ Live is an excellent value spin bike. At its current price tag of $200, I think it’s the best low-cost magnetic resistance spin.
It is a solid combination of accessibility, high quality, and best of all, affordability. Priced at a meager $200, the KOUZ LIVE is a significantly cheaper option for your home gym than many competing spin bikes but doesn’t sacrifice much in terms of quality and efficiency.
So, if by the time, you are reading this Kouz indoor Cycling bike review, the price hasn’t gone crazy (sellers often become greedy and put ridiculous prices on their products after becoming popular), I suggest you don’t look further.
However, if the prices are changed, I would highly recommend you check out the Dmasun Indoor cycling bike. It’s often available at $350 which is $150 more than the Kouz Live but it also has a better seat and drop handlebars. Plus, it has better overall ratings.
Another affordable alternative indoor bike to Kouz Live is the X-Gear Indoor cycling bike. At $150, aside from the fact that it is $50 less expensive than the Kouz Live bike, it also has Bluetooth connectivity to allow workout tracking. If you want to save a little more, you can’t go wrong with the X-Gear.

KOUZ LIVE Indoor Bike Review and Specs:
Cycle Specifications:
- Width: 20”
- Length: 37″
- Height: 45”
- Max User Weight: 330 Pounds
- Transportation Wheels
If the attractive and modern computer features of the KOUZ LIVE spin cycle weren’t enough to convince you this machine would be a good investment, KOUZ LIVE has also committed to providing the best in stationary bike technology, even at its low and affordable price. The KOUZ LIVE features a 35 lb fixed flywheel in partnership with magnetic resistance which allows for different levels of variable resistance to choose from. Along with the fact that KOUZ LIVE’s spin bikes feature belt drivetrain mechanisms, the KOUZ LIVE gives you a smooth and quiet workout experience you can count on again and again.
With other user friendly features like a double water bottle holder built into the handlebars, ergonomic handlebars, and a horizontally and vertically adjustable saddle and handlebars, the KOUZ LIVE is built to provide the perfect workout with minimum strain. The KOUZ LIVE comes with many of the high-quality features that the best indoor cycling bikes today offer while at an average, if not lower, price than most, making it an excellent addition to any home, workout space, personal gym, or studio.
Digital LCD Monitor:
- The KOUZ indoor bike monitor is basic that runs on batteries (included) without backlit to see in the dark.
- It can track your speed, time, calories distance, HR (via pulse not wireless HRM straps).
- This bike doesn’t track or display your watt/power, RPM (revolution per minute), or resistance level.
This high performing KOUZ LIVE bike features a simple and straightforward cycle monitor that’s popular for being simple, affordable, and built right into your bike for maximum efficiency and feedback. The KOUZ LIVE electronic console powers on automatically with each ride and the LCD screen offers clearly visible feedback for every ride. The direct ride measurements achieved through immediate tracking built into the cycle include speed, distance, heart rate, calories, and workout time, all useful parameters that provide immediate and valuable feedback.
There is no Bluetooth or ANT+ connectivity, so tracking and saving cycle data to apps like Zwift, Peloton, or any other leaderboard system isn’t really an option with the KOUZ LIVE. You can track heart rate through the console and connected pulse sensors built into the handlebar, another helpful tool when it comes to monitoring your performance throughout the ride, but it’d be nice to be able to connect that data automatically to your fitness app or tracker.
A built in tablet mount holds phones or tablets for easy entertainment while riding, so you can turn on an episode of your favorite show or movie or follow along to a spin class for maximum power and convenience during your rides. If you’re missing the ANT+ capabilities, you can also always purchase power pedals or wahoo sensors to track and transmit your ride speed via Bluetooth to apps like Zwift or Peloton, but that’s an added expense you’ll have to accept in order to level it up.
Caged Equipped Pedals:
- Aluminum alloy non-slip pedals have toe cages and buckles for additional security.
- There is no SPD elements on the pedals (there is only toe-cage).
- The pedal thread is 9/16″ which is the most common type and be found easily.
- Q-factor is not disclosed
The pedals included on the KOUZ LIVE bike are fairly standard: simple bike pedals with included toe cages to keep your feet from slipping off the pedal mid-stride. However, they are not SPD compatible, which could be ab issue for more experienced riders who are used to the benefits SPD pedals can provide.
Most spin bike SPD pedals are double-sided – that means you can clip into either side of the pedal, which makes starting from a stationary position simple. It also creates an anti-slip surface that helps riders grip safely onto the pedal. While the KOUZ LIVE cycle doesn’t offer double-sided pedals, it does feature an anti-slip surface with a toe cage that will help your feet stay securely within your pedals. For beginning riders, not being able to train with SPD compatibility could be a problem later on if you’re looking to increase your spinning abilities, but if you’re just looking for a standard indoor bike these pedals will do the trick. You can also always order SPD-equipped replacement pedals; the pedals on the KOUZ LIVE help screw onto a standard 9/16 thread, so replacements will fit them almost universally. The pedals unscrew easily to replace, making swapping out for better versions simple though an extra expense you may not want to commit to.
The Q-factor on the KOUZ LIVE spin bike hasn’t been published by their team, but there is no complaints, not this part, so it should be an average q-factor. Typically a narrower stance is preferred, as it permits ergonomic positioning of the feet and knees, allowing for a more comfortable and productive workout by reducing strain on your muscles and joints and through more efficient power transfer throughout your pedal strokes. This q-factor seems to fit nicely within that category, making it a reliable and ergonomic choice especially for someone with painful joints.
KOUZ LIVE Spin Bike Flywheel:
- KOUZ has a 35 lb fixed flywheel (not free-wheel).
- Front-mounted fixed flywheel with sweat resistance guard
- Magnetic resistance works with belt transmission to provide a smooth and quiet riding experience
Flywheels are one of the most important aspects that need to be considered when looking to purchase an indoor cycling bike, and the KOUZ LIVE does not disappoint. The KOUZ LIVE features a 35 lb magnetic flywheel that’s inertia-weighted. These types of flywheel, such as the one present in the KOUZ LIVE, provides the rider with a smoother motion while they cycle, preventing any jerking and straining. Magnetic resistance also has the added benefit of contactless braking, something that prevents general wear and tear caused by friction or contact braking over the years.
The location of the KOUZ LIVE’s flywheel is also beneficial as it promotes forward driving exercise, making it easy to stand or sit while you pedal, a good feature for rides who prefer spin workouts or classes that ask you to lift on and off the seat as opposed to simple cycle riding.
The KOUZ LIVE features a sleek belt transmission, and, although KOUZ LIVE does not specify the exact variety, it is likely a rubber or poly belt, which is the industry standard and is present on most bikes which use a belt instead of a chain. Combining a magnetic flywheel with the belt drivetrain means the KOUZ LIVE offers a smooth, quiet riding experience for the user. The flywheel is also coated and protected by a bumper for maximum safety, meaning it is safe to be used around small children or pets as the protective covering will work to prevent any accidents from happening during use.
KOUZ LIVE Bike Resistance
- The KOUZ LIVE indoor spin bike features a strong variable magnetic resistance system.
- The resistance knob can also be used for emergency braking.
- This bike is equipped with a manual/knob to adjust resistance and it can’t change automatically.
The KOUZ LIVE spin bike uses high-quality and reliable magnetic technology for their flywheel, which allows users to select between an infinite amount of resistance levels, meaning you can always push yourself just as much or little as you would like to during your workout. The resistance knob is on the KOUZ LIVE’s central frame, making it easy to reach during a ride, and it adjusts easily so that switching resistance levels during a ride is not a hassle.
The KOUZ LIVE’s magnetic flywheel also means that switching between resistance levels during your ride is a simple and smooth process that doesn’t interrupt the flow of your exercise. This allows for a variety of different resistance training techniques, meaning you can replicate hills or various other terrains or allow for HIIT workouts, letting you personalize your workout to whatever your needs are.
Handlebars and Seat
- Four-way adjustable, multi-positional handlebars.
- Vertically and horizontally adjustable saddle.
- Conveniently placed dual bottle holders on the handlebars (big pro).
- Can place a tablet or phone on the handlebars during the ride.
The KOUZ LIVE’s handlebars are constructed with an ergonomic and comfortable design that are able to be adjusted both vertically and horizontally. This versatility means that different riders can choose various styles depending on their needs. Simple levers are used to adjust the positioning of the handlebar either forwards, backwards, up, or down. Positioned centrally in the middle of the handlebars is the main console, which is equipped with a tablet mount to be used for entertainment or following along with a live streamed workout. Overall, the handlebars offer multi positioning, pulse tracking, and easy access to entertainment and digital monitor functions. Their range of adjustment makes them a great fit for people of many different body types and sizes, providing valuable flexibility for all riders.
The KOUZ LIVE’s seat features similar adjustability and customization to the handlebars, letting riders adjust both the vertical and horizontal positioning in order to be accommodating for many different heights and body types. The saddle is wider than one you would find on a typical road cycle, which makes it a comfortable fit for most riders. The high degree of personalization which can be found in both the handlebars and the saddle make the KOUZ LIVE an excellent choice for potential cyclists who are entertaining the possibility of multiple riders using the same bike.
Belt Drivetrain Transmission
- KOUZ comes with a poly-v belt which is expected for the and better than the chain.
- The gear ratio is not disclosed buy considering the weight of the flywheel, it should be around 1:3.
With the KOUZ LIVE, their indoor spin bike incorporates a belt drivetrain as opposed to a chain. KOUZ LIVE does not specify the variety of belts that are used in their bikes, however it’s a good bet that they feature the standard rubber and/or poly belt which is found on many modern indoor bikes which use belts. Spin bikes that choose belts instead of chains will have a smoother and quieter riding experience, as belts eliminate the need for clunky chains and the problems that come with them.
In combination with the heavy flywheel, the belt drivetrain provides riders of the KOUZ LIVE with an incredibly smooth riding experience, free from any jerking or catching. Belts typically require less maintenance than chains, not having any needs such as oiling, adjusting, or tightening.
The greatest advantage offered by the KOUZ LIVE’s belt transmission is that it makes the bike’s performance nearly silent. This is aided by the KOUZ LIVE’s sturdy, all-steel build, which allows it to withstand even the most intense workouts without creaking or groaning. This is great for anyone who may have limited time and can only ride at times where the noise may disturb others, such as very early in the morning or late at night.
KOUZ LIVE Bike Price and Warranty
- The KOUZ LIVE spin bike is currently priced at $200
- The KOUZ LIVE spin bike’s warranty includes one year warranty and 100% customer satisfaction, guaranteed
If you are having troubles with your KOUZ LIVE bike while it is under warranty, you can visit their Amazon seller’s store and fill out a claim there for whatever issue you are having.
The initial price of the KOUZ LIVE is definitely a good deal, but you should still factor in the major negatives of this bike, such as the lack of SPD pedals and the non-Bluetooth compatibility on the monitor.
This is not to say that the KOUZ LIVE is a bad bike; overall it’s still a decent machine with many good components, but the loss of major features does set it back in value and can cause some issues down the road if you’re looking for higher level performance. Unless you are willing to spend $100 for SPD spin bike pedals and an RPM cycling sensor.

- Shipped in a single box that weighs about 100 pounds, with partial assembly required
- Parts needed assembly; stabilizers, pedals, seat, handlebars, and monitor.

The assembly required for the KOUZ LIVE spin bike is not challenging, and if you follow the instructions included in the package you can have your KOUZ LIVE put together in as little as 20 to 30 minutes. Most of the parts, such as the flywheel and the handlebars, come pre-assembled.
Putting these larger parts together will make up most of the construction process of the KOUZ LIVE. KOUZ LIVE Indoor Cycle Pros:
Ergonomic and User-Friendly
The KOUZ LIVE indoor bike is a valuable combination of a sleek and user-friendly build and one that is durable and able to stand up to the needs of any spin cyclist. The KOUZ LIVE is a highly flexible spin bike which can be customized to your individual needs with every use and even trade out individual parts as you see fit. Combine this with the KOUZ LIVE’s compact design and relative ease of use and the KOUZ LIVE is a great fit with any rider’s schedule.
Silent Drivetrain and Resistance:
The combination of the belt drivetrain and the magnetic resistance flywheel means that the KOUZ LIVE offers a virtually silent riding experience. Smooth no-contact braking and the belt instead of a chain makes for a fluid ride every time. The magnetic flywheel also offers infinitely adjustable and uniquely different levels of resistance, a big plus.
Durable Steel Frame and Parts:
The KOUZ LIVE is a great example of a durable and solid building, with a sturdy steel frame that is built to last the test of time. The KOUZ LIVE’s reliably durable build means that you can put the magnetic resistance on your cycle to the test without having to worry about the bike moving around on you. Flexibility is a staple of the KOUZ LIVE, and the handlebars and saddle are no exception. Both vertically and horizontally adjusted, the KOUZ LIVE is built to ensure that any rider will be able to exercise in comfort.
KOUZ LIVE Indoor Cycle Cons:
Limited Monitor Function:
The limited and low-impact monitor on the KOUZ LIVE is probably one of the biggest detriments to the cycle. It’s a functional small and simple monitor that provides instant feedback in a few different valuable contexts, but it is small and doesn’t offer RPM readings, Bluetooth or ANT+ connectivity, a drawback that means it’s hard to integrate your cycle with modern fitness and tech tracking options. For riders who prefer a more technologically savvy ride, this might not be the best initial investment.
No SPD Pedals:
The lack of SPD-integrated pedals is an equality issue here (thankfully it can be solved with $50 additional cost). SPD is a huge component of spin and cycling, so not having pedals that are compatible with cleats or other elements of the SPD pedaling system feels like a major miss. Though you can easily replace your pedals with third-party options, it’d be nice to not have to immediately upgrade your bike and simply be able to use the included pedals.
Final Thoughts
The KOUZ LIVE is a decent quality offering in the lower to mid-range tier of spin bikes under $500, which could be a good fit for any home gym, workout room, or office. The KOUZ LIVE has a high quality frame build which ensures that it will last you many years, and the sturdy construction of the magnetic flywheel and belt drivetrain ensure that the KOUZ LIVE can take on whatever challenges come your way. Flexibility and comfort are also at the forefront of the KOUZ LIVE’s strengths, allowing for vertical and horizontal adjustment of both the saddle and handlebars, making it a solid choice for most indoor cyclists. However, the KOUZ LIVE is held back by a couple problems, including no integrated SPD pedals and a simplistic no RPM monitor.
I recently bought a kouz live exercise bike HP-SP1113PK-M. I put it together and the left pedal kept slipping out. Presently I’m unable to use the bike.
I need a pedal replacement please.
Thank you
