Joroto X2 Indoor Cycling Bike Review | Good Quality & Value
This Joroto X2 magnetic indoor cycling bike offers more adjustability and some awesome features compared to the Joroto X1s model that I have previously reviewed and compared in this article.
While it was released years ago, this bike is still a best-seller magnetic spin bike because of its affordable price and its simple yet durable frame and good user weight capacity of 300 lbs and decent handlebars and seat adjuting options.
The Joroto X2 magnetic indoor cycling bike comes with a manually adjustable magnetic resistance system and belt drive mechanism offering several advantages that I am about to cover in this Joroto magnetic indoor cycling bike review.
The virtually no-maintenance magnetic tension system is designed for maximum comfort and stability. Unlike friction bikes, the magnets don’t come in contact with the flywheel. So, there is no wear and tear.
This technology allows you to experience a smooth and silent ride while you crank up the magnetic resistance for a cardio and strength workout with plenty of variety. An emergency push-down brake is also available on the Joroto X2 indoor cycle, it stops the wheel immediately for safety.
As for the belt drive mechanism, it is much better compared to the chain which you can read in my spin bike transmission guide. This system is low maintenance, doesn’t require oil, lasts longer, and is lighter than a chain drive providing a smooth pedaling and silent operation.
The Joroto X2 spin bike combines a belt transmission and magnetic resistance with an upgraded 35-pound flywheel to ensure stability and avoid jolting and jerky pedal strokes while riding.
As I mentioned earlier in this Joroto magnetic spin bike review, this bike has a 300-pound user weight capacity which is not bad at all. Considering the heavy duty and high durability of 50mm thickened steel frame tube construction, I believe the company is playing safe by not giving more than 300 pounds of user weight.
Okay now this was an overview of the Joroto X2 for those of you who don’t have much time to read read my full review down below. But if you have time, I suggest you read the rest of this Joroto X2 review to see all its pros, cons, and a few alternatives that I highly recommend if you can spend just a little more.

JOROTO X2 | 2x2-inch | Speed, heart rate, distance, time, and calories | Belt-Drive Magnetic (not motorised) | 27.5″ to 36.2″ | 280-Pound | 35-Lb (NO sweat protection guard) | 4-Way Adjustable | 180 MM |
JOROTO X1 | 2x2-inch | Speed, heart rate, distance, time, and calories | Chain-Drive Friction (not motorised) | 25.6″ to 35.4″ | 280-Pound | 35-Lb (NO sweat protection guard) | 2-Way Adjustable | 180 MM |
Joroto Fitness started with the X1 which was a friction resistance base indoor bike without horizontal adjustment for handlebars but soon they realized consumers weren’t happy and competitors were making better indoor bikes so they released the Joroto X2. Although it was better than the X1 because of its low-maintenance magnetic resistance and better handlebars, it still had a poor monitor.
So, the company went ahead and developed two better indoor cycling bikes. One was the Joroto X2 Pro which is similar to X2, except it has a better console that gives additional riding details including watt, resistance level, and cadence. The X2 Pro also has a better handlebar with a larger tablet holder that can fit tablets up to 15″ and doesn’t block the bike’s handlebars. Additionally, Joroto added Bluetooth connectivity to the X2 Pro so you can connect the bike to Zwift and other indoor cycling applications.
Not longer after developing the Joroto X2 Pro, they developed the Joroto X4S which is this brand’s top model. It’s not built on the same frame of Joroto X1 or X2 but instead, it has a completely new look with a few notable superior features that I think are worth the extra $100.
For instance, the X4s have a perimeter-weighted flywheel with resistance being applied from both sides of the flywheel rather than just from the top. This makes the bike smoother because to make this happen the flywheel has to be precisely balanced while for the top applied resistance, even if the flywheel is not super precisely balanced, it still works.
Additionally, the Joroto X4s has dumbbell holders that you can install behind the seat and place some of these Peloton dumbbells for upper body and arm workouts. Plus, there is a major improvement on the X4s’s console compared to Joroto X2’s console. It’s about an inch bigger and it’s easier to see your workouts during the ride.
Joroto X4s also has Bluetooth connectivity for Zwift, Kinomap, and other cycling applications. Not to mention the X4S reads and provides your load/resistance level, RPM, and heart rate if you wear chest straps. So, if you can afford the X4s, I highly recommend it, especially if this Niceday bike is not available for a cheaper price. The reason I would recommend the Niceday bike over Joroto X4 is the fact that it is often $100 less expensive and it has dual-sided pedals which costs $50. So, you would pay less but get more.
Now that you know the available Joroto indoor cycling, you should also know that there were the Joroto X3 and the X5 exercise bikes but they were both discontinued years ago. They were high-quality indoor bikes but couldn’t compete in the market for the price. If you are interested to see their difference, read our Joroto indoor cycling bike comparison.
This way it would be easier for you to understand which one of these durable indoor cycling bikes fits best your cycling needs. Keep in mind that currently, this X2 Pro is the best seller Joroto spin bike, thanks to its magnetic resistance system, improved console with Bluetooth, and better-dipped handlebars.
Joroto X2 Comparable Alternative Choices
Let me be honest with you, the Joroto X2 is a good bike but wouldn’t be my first choice when shopping for spin bikes under $500. Yes, it features a padded comfortable seat and custom-fit handlebars that move forward/backward and up/down. But it doesn’t have a decent console or Bluetooth to connect the bike with Zwift and other cycling apps.
On the other hand, the Joroto X2 Pro is a better choice and I think soon the X2 model will be discontinued just like the X3 and X5. So, if you like the Joroto Fitness brand, you better look at the X2 pro rather than X2, mainly because it has a larger console, better handlebars, and Bluetooth connection.
But away from Joroto, there are a few other really good indoor cycling bikes that I think would make better alternatives. One, in particular, is the Niceday bike. It’s a fairly new bike, I got to try it recently when I was searching for the best magnetic indoor bikes under $500 and it really impressed me.
It’s only $100 more expensive than the X2 but it has a larger screen which is easier to see your progress, dual-sided pedals that allow using simple gym shoes or spd clipping indoor cycling shoes, and overall more weight capacity. Plus, its flywheel is 10 heavier so you get extra resistance and momentum when cycling indoors.
Another alternative is the Echelon EX15. It’s not necessarily a better spin bike unless you have kids because its flywheel is fully covered so if your kids happen to fall on the bike, they won’t get hurt as much as falling on sharp edges of regular flywheels. If you don’t have kids at home, then I don’t Echelon EX15 is a better value alternative to Joroto X2, especially the X2 Pro. I say that because Echelon EX15 doesn’t have a built-in console, heavy flywheel, or horizontally adjustable handlebars so it doesn’t make sense to pay $100 extra for it.

The Joroto magnetic exercise bike designed for spinning with durable construction that can support just about any type of spin workout. Its frame is built entirely out of 50mm thickened frame tube.
It is a heavy bike that weighs 94 pounds with the frame fully assembled, which is more than the weight of the average road bikes. This weight, plus the rider’s weight add to the bike’s stability preventing the bike from moving during intense workouts.
Thanks to its 4 adjustable stabilizer feet, you can perfectly level the bike on any type of surface including uneven floors. Additionally the Joroto magnetic bike features a durable powder coating which is rust and scratch resistant.
For relocating the bike after each spinning workout, the front base is equipped with two large durable transport wheel wheels. As for dimensions, the Joroto X2 indoor cycling bike is relatively compact and don’t need too much space.
Joroto magnetic X2 computer:
- Joroto magnetic spin bike includes a very basic fitness meter.
- Allows the rider to track the time, speed, distance, and calories burned.
- The X2 Jorot bike does not track the RPM, heart rate and watts.
- It has no wireless connectivity (Bluetooth or ANT/+).
- It runs on batteries and does not have backlit.
The computer included with this Joroto magnetic exercise bike, displays your time, speed, distance, and calories burned. That enables you to see your results to stay motivated and on pace.
But don’t count too much on this computer. It is too basic and not so accurate which is very common for spin bikes in this price tag.
Overall it is not an advanced monitor so you can not save stats or ride on cycling apps online. Unfortunately, it also lacks in backlit so you will need to keep the light on in low-light condition if you want to see the stats.
Thankfully the Joroto magnetic X2 trainer comes with a good media shelf that can serve as a tablet holder or magazine holder to keep you entertained.
If you want to track your workouts and join spinning apps such as Zwift for a fun ride, I suggest you buy a Wahoo sensor. It attaches to the pedal and tracks your RPM (revolution per minute) time, distance, and more. Using Bluetooth, it connects and sends data to your phone or tablet.
Read more about spin bike computer and Wahoos sensors to understand all your options for this magnetic exercise bike. Using the Wahoo app on your device (phone, tablet etc) you can also track your heart rate.
Pedals and Q-factor:
- Joroto Magnetic bike features adjustable caged foot pedals.
- They are not clipless cycling shoes compatible.
- The current X2 has a standard thread size which is 9/16″ and replacements are available.
- The q-factor is 203mm which is a little wider than expected.
Joroty magnetic cycle has durable steel toe-caged pedals. They are designed with adjustable straps and buckle to fit for different size feet and keep them in place safely.
Fortunately, the thread of the pedals are standard size, meaning they have the usual 9/16″ thread size. Therefore, you can replace them with regular SPD pedals. That’s unless you have an old Joroto X2 bike that was manufactured in 2021, those have smaller pedals.
Thankfully Joroto Fitness has made the right clip-in pedals for this bike. If you would like to purchase the SPD clip-in pedals ($45) and replace them with X2’s regular pedals, you can send them a direct email at support@jorotofitness.com. or send them an Amazon message.
The company hasn’t released the q-factor information for this bike. But we were able to find that information and it’s reported to be 203 mm which is considered a little wide, especially if you are a pro rider and used to riding road bikes.
In case you are new to cycling, the q-factor is the distance between the pedals. The narrower it is, the better it is because it can keep your feet aligned with your knees and hips and minimize stress on these joints.
The X2 bike flywheel:
- Joroto X2 magnetic spin bike flywheel weighs 35 pounds to deliver a close-to-natural ride.
- The flywheel is fixed and bi-direction.
The flywheel is a fairly heavy one, weighing 35 pound, designed for a more natural ride and consistent momentum. It’s fixed and bi-directional, which means you can pedal in reverse.
The benefit of fixed-wheel (fixed-gear) is that you can double the number of workouts and by pedaling reverse simulate different muscle groups. A disadvantage of fixed-gear is that you can not take a two-second break or immediately dismount the bike in case of emergency.
The flywheel is connected with the pedals, so you will have to wait until the flywheel and pedals stop before you can get off the bike. There are a few indoor cycling bikes like this IC8 bike with smart release (free-wheel) system. But they cost more than $2000.
Overall the Joroto X2 produces a smooth pedaling experience thanks to the combination of the magnetic system, belt and heavy flywheel resulting in extra stability and smoothness for the pedaling motion.
Joroto X2 resistance:
- Joroto X2 has magnetic resistance to provide a smooth responsive ride.
- There are 6 strong magnets for a more challenging spinning exercise.
- Resistance is manually adjustable through knob.
- It has the emergency push to stop function.
The selling factor of this joroto indoor cycle is its silent magnetic resistance system. This indoor cycling bike trainer with magnetic resistance and belt drive is perfect for home cardio exercise.
Unlike competitors with little resistance, the Joroto magnetic indoor cycling exercise bike X2 has 6 magnets to provide a challenging and smooth responsive ride by increasing the magnetic field resistance.
As I mentioned earlier in this Joroto magnetic indoor cycling bike review, the X2 indoor cycling bike is equipped with a manual magnetic resistance system. So, the resistance is controlled manually (not electronically).
In addition to quiet operation, the Jroto X2 bike resistance is also virtually maintenance-free unlike bikes with friction resistance, such as SPX for example, the resistance pad and the flywheel do not touch.
Therefore, the resistance does not wear out and you won’t have to go through the hassle of changing the brake pad, like you would for for friction bike.
Unfortunately the resistance knob doesn’t have levels specified on it. Therefore, you wouldn’t know the exact level or your previous level. But after a week of riding this bike, you will get a feeling of how many knob turns generate the resistance adequate to your training.
Lastly, the resistance also serves as an emergency brake; by pressing it down you can immediately stop the flywheel, which may be necessary in case of emergency or if you want to alternate normal with reverse pedaling sessions.
Drive system:
- X2 Joroto features belt-drive design for a quiet and smooth workout.
- This bike has the fixed-gear single belt direct drive mechanism.
In addition to magnetic system, one of the aspects that I like about Joroto X2 indoor cycling bike is the belt drive. In fact, it is the combination of the belt with magnetic resistance that makes this cycle stand out from the crowd.
Featuring a heavy-duty belt drivetrain comes with several advantages. For example, it doesn’t require lubing so you wouldn’t have to deal with the mess that oil could make on your floor.
The other benefits include low-maintenance because the belt is one piece unlike chain with 100+ little pieces. And last but not least, the belt does not generate as much vibration as the chain does, therefore, it is extremely quiet and smooth.
Joroto indoor cycling bike is made for indoor cycling workout for all fitness levels therefore, it has durable and solid crank arms. It can support the rider in all cycling positions include off the seat full body high-intensity workouts.
Handlebars and seat:
- Joroto handlebars are 4-way adjustable for perfect bike fit and comfortable ride.
- There are two water bottle holders and a table holder built-in the handlebars.
- The seat is also 4-way adjustable with safety holes on vertical post for a comfort and safe ride.
- It is a well padded wide leather seat designed for comfort.
There are currently two other budget magnetic spin bikes under $500 (Efitment IC031 and IC033) but they don’t have the Joroto X2’s handlebars. Due to its unique design, many consumers prefer the Joroto X2 over both of those bikes.
The handlebars are 4-way adjustable for a perfect bike setting and to provide a safe and comfortable ride for all your family members. There are two large water bottle holders built-into the handlebars which you can use to keep a bottle of water and your phone or other personal belongings.
On top of that, there is a large tablet holder that makes it easy for you to have the tablet on the bike watching a Netflix movie or spinning video on YouTube for a more engaging and efficient workout.
The seat provided with the Joroto X2 exercise bike is well padded and comfortable than for many other spin bikes in this price class. It is a relatively wide leather seat which is nice for regular rides and users with wider hips.
But if you have really narrow hips and weigh less than average, you may want to consider replacing the seat with narrower seat for less friction and chafing. I suggest you not to buy the bike seat already, ride the bike to see how it feels. Then you can decide if it is required.
The seat has layers of soft padding and has two springs at the rear that considerably improve its overall cushioning and comfort. As for adjustment, the Joroto magnetic bike’s seat can be adjusted for most user heights. It is fore/aft up/down adjustable
Instead of regular dents, its vertical post has several adjustment holes that keep the seat tightly in place and prevent shaking or going down.
Featuring a multi-grip urethane dipped handlebar design, your workout remains comfortable when riding for long periods of time. The aero bar adds several grip possibilities and allows you to change arm positions to engage different upper muscles and prevent wrist and arm aches and fatigue.

Shipping and assembly:
- JOROTO Magnetic Indoor Cycling Bike – Belt Drive Exercise Bikes Stationary for Home Gym comes mostly assembled.
- The package includes all the needed installation tools and the manual.
- Joroto X2 shipping is free.
- This bike ships in one box that weighs 110 pounds.
This Joroto fitness equipment comes with required installation tools and assembly instruction to make the assembly process a piece of cake. So, you wouldn’t need to spend another $80 for that.
Most of the bike comes already assembled. The flywheel, the drive belt, the crank assembly and the resistance mechanism are already attached to the main frame.
Therefore, in terms of assembly, all you need to do is attach the front and rear base bars to the main-frame, install the seat and handlebar posts and finally the console and the pedals.
This shouldn’t take more than 30-40 minutes. The Joroto X2 manual will guide you through the assembly steps and thankfully the tools required for it are all included.
Note: Please pay attention to the pedal assembling, the left pedal needs to be screwed in counter-clockwise. As for maintenance, a periodic check for loose bolts and parts is recommended.
You are lucky the transmission does not require any lubrication since it’s a belt and not a chain. Other than this, swipe it with the towel after workout and keep the liquids away from the console unit.

Joroto Magnetic Indoor Cycling Bike Cons:
- Joroto X2 magnetic indoor cycle does not have SPD elements on the pedals and its q-factor (distance between the pedals) is a little wider than standard.
- A tablet placed on the tablet holder will cover the water bottle holder unless you buy the Jorot X2 Pro.
- There is no drop grip on the handlebars and there is no Bluetooth connection on X2 model (X2Pro has Bluetooth).
- Its screen is too small and dark which makes it difficult for the riders to see the stats during the ride (X2Pro has a larger screen with rpm, watt, and resistance readings).
Pedals are indeed standard 9/16 threads. I know, I changed mine. You might want to correct your line stating they are not…
